The Central Texas Astronomical Society offers public stargazing monthly for McLennan and surrounding counties at the Lake Waco Wetlands. Join us, bring the family, and see the skies over Central Texas! You don't have to bring anything, but you are welcome to bring a lawn chair and refreshments, and if you have binoculars or a telescope, feel free to bring them. A flashlight might be helpful, and be sure to dress warmly in cool weather. CTAS members will be on hand with telescopes and binoculars to highlight your tour of the night sky. Each evening starts with an indoor program followed by outdoor viewing when the sky is clear.
Unless otherwise noted, monthly star parties are at the Lake Waco Wetlands ("WW") at 1752 Eichelberger Crossing Road.
Directions: From Interstate 35 take the Exit 330 and proceed west (toward Meridian) on Hwy. 6/Loop 340. Continue for approximately ten miles to the intersection of Hwy 6 & FM 185. Turn right onto FM 185 and continue 0.6 miles then turn left on Eichelberger Crossing Road. The Lake Waco Wetlands Research and Education Center will be 1.6 miles on your right at 1752 Eichelberger Crossing Road. [Click below for a map.]
Times change monthly, depending up time of sunset, so check each date for starting and ending times.
