The miraculous conjunction of a clear night and the ability to sleep in the next morning occurred last night! As a result, I was able to get this image of the California Nebula (NGC 1499) last night. It was shot with a SBIG 8300 STF mounted on a William Optics Star-71, 350mm focal length telescope on a Losmandy G11 mount. I made 10 each Ha, SII, and OIII exposures of 600 seconds each. In case you didn't notice the moon was about 40% last night, but I was still able to get the image. Fortunately there appears to be little or no OIII in NGC 1499.

Jeff, that was great because it keep clouding up around here and there was lots of moisture in the air. You got it all in the image and that was great.

Keep up the good work.

Aubrey

Very nicely done Jeff.  Great detail, and the color with the contrasting sky is giving me a 3D effect.
